King Sod Inc., Frequently Asked Questions

How much sod do I need?

Here is a brief explanation about how we arrive at the contract / estimate.

Square Footage is obtained by multiplying Length ( L ) times ( x ) Width ( W )
( L x W = Total Sq. Ft. )

A piece of Sod = 2.67 Sq. Ft.

Take ( Total Sq. Ft ) divided by ( 2.67 ) = How many pieces you will need

Landscaping obstacles such as flowerbeds, ponds, etc. are not considered at this time.

Partial footage is rounded up to ensure adequate material on the job site. For the above reasons, your contract / estimate reads :

" To Be Billed for "Actual" sod installed when we prepare the invoice."

This means You will be billed for "Actual" sod installed when we prepare the invoice. Not necessarily our " first estimate ".

Also included with every invoice is a copy of the actual "job sheet" which is filled out by the Forman. This "job sheet" determines what King Sod charges you, the customer for the work.

How do I take care of my newly installed lawn?

WATERING:

Very Important - Water Daily for the First 30 days
Regardless of what type of sod you purchased

It is best to water your lawn between the hours of 12am - 8am.

Example 1 - A Rotor Head should water at least 1 hour total, 1/2 hr first cycle, 1/2 hr. second cycle.

Example 2 - A Spray Head should water at least 20 minutes. 10 min 1st cycle, 10 min 2nd cycle.

Times may vary, due to some applications.

This way the water is spread out, and givin time to soak into the ground properly. This eliminates over-watering.

MOWING : As soon as the roots have taken hold, and you can no longer lift up the sod anymore. You then can start mowing. Please note : This can take up to 3 to 4 weeks. (Times may vary due to seasons.)

FERTILIZING : After 30 days - You should use "Turf Grass Starting Fertilizer" Or "Palm tree fertilizer".

These will assist in thickening the roots, for proper root development. Use a 5/10/10 or 8/10/10 Low Nitrogen fertilizer .

Apply regular fertilizer 45 days After palm tree fertilizer. Use a regular slow release fertilizer 16/4/8 . Proper fertilization should be done 4 times a year.
(This Information may vary due to season of the year)
