Argentina Bahia Grass Sod
 

Advantages:

  • Affordable & recommended for homeowners
  • Bahia grass develops in extensive root system which makes the grass one of the most drought tolerant lawn grasses
  • Produces durable sod which is able to withstand moderate traffic has fewer pest problems then most other lawn grasses, with the exception of mole crickets

Disadvantages:

  • Difficult to mow due to it’s very tough leaves, stems and seed heads that grow from May – Nov
  • does not do well in soils having high ph and grow poorly in areas subjected to salt spray
  • often appears yellow in Spring and Fall, due to lack of iron

St Augustine Floratam Grass Sod

The St. Augustine Brand of grass sod we offer is the best and most commonly planted turfgrass in Florida. It can be grown in a wide variety of soils, but grows best in well drained, fertile soils. To produce a beautiful quality lawn, St. Augustine grass requires irrigation and moderate fertilization.

Advantages:

  • affordable and highly recommended for homeowners and property used in pastures and ranches.
  • produces a nice, dark green dense grass with broad, flat blades
  • produces runners that allow the grass to grow and spread and establishes a beautiful lawn quickly and easily
  • the grass sod will adapt well to most soils and climate changes in Florida.

Disadvantages:

  • does have certain pest problems which could limit it’s uses in certain situations. Feel free to ask our specialists

  • requires irrigation to produce a quality lawn
  • does not remain green during drought conditions or without supplemental water

Advantages:

  • St Augustine Seville Grass is popular due to it’s rapid growth spread and dark color
  • it has a finer leaf blade density and a lower growth habit as compare to Floratam
  • St Augustine Seville also demonstrates excellent tolerance to shade

Disadvantages:

  • does have certain pest problems which could limit it’s use in some areas. Feel free to ask our specialists if St Augustine Palmetto is right for you!
  • susceptible to diseases such as gray leafspot and brown patch.
  • does have a coarse texture. Stop by and we will let you feel it for yourself!

Bermuda Grass Sod Prices

Advantages:

  • Bermuda grass produces a vigorous light to dark green dense lawn
  • adapts well to most soils and climate changes in Florida
  • excellent choice for waterfront property due to it’s excellent salt and drought tolerance
  • used primarily on golf courses, athletic fields and tennis courts due to it’s excellent wear ability
  • Bermuda grass sod is excellent in areas where fine textured, high quality turf grass is essential for sports activities and maintenance budgets are adequate.

Disadvantages:

  • Not suitable for most home lawns because of it’s need for restricted pesticides to control nematodes and insects
  • this grass has a large number of cultural and pests problems which restricts it’s uses in many Florida locations
  • This grass is high maintenance
  • Turns brown in cold weather and has poor shade tolerance.

Empire Zoysia Grass Sod

Advantages:

  • Zoysia grass is generally the most beautiful lawn grass in the south
  • it adapts to most soils and has a great tolerance to salt and shade
  • excellent wear tolerance
  • once a lawn is established, Zoysia is slow growing, so mowing is not needed as often
  • with the density of Zoysia, it produces an excellent uniform lawn when well maintained.

Disadvantages:

  • Zoysia grass is extremely slow growing
  • it is slow to recover after damage
  • has poor growth on compacted lawns. It tends to be weakened due to it’s shallow root system
  • requires high maintenance, fertilization and frequent irrigation
    it is recommended that a real mower be used for cutting
